I have been a bit neglectful of the blog lately, it's mostly because I am figuring out facebook and we have been crazy busy around here with lots of photography and photobooth session, traveling and birthdays. I posted these photos on facebook last night which is easy and fast but I don't really love how the photos look all blotchy on facebook so here they are again, nice and pretty!

Last night I was able to photograph little Chuck at 6 months. Janet and Greg are so great at planning and had this session booked shortly after Chuck was born, how awesome is that!? :) They are also amazing because they brought me a carmel apple, I LOVE surprises like this!!! I have some of the greatest clients ever!! Another reason they are amazing is the fact that they have 6 kids that are so well behaved it kinda blows me away, it makes my job so easy! Anyway, here are some favorites, happy Friday!

This first shot is classic me, my photos are constantly tilting down on the right and most of the time it drives me crazy,

however, I feel like that is what makes this shot awesome, that and the cute baby. oh and also all the chubby little feet.

Last weekend Deborah stayed here and shot a wedding and I was at the "What a Woman Wants Show" at the South Towne Exop Center in Sandy UT. It was the biggest show to date. More vendors and people attending than ever. There was nonstop laughter at the FunnyFace PhotoBooth and a few high pitched screams. We went with a pink theme and it turned out perfect. It was really great to meet so many new people. It is always great to see people still blown away by our photo booth and even more exciting when they find out how our photo booth works at a wedding. A few people were brave enough to let us blog their photo booth strips. So thanks to the following people for letting us blog you. We hope you had a fun time.

Last week I had a session planned that I was excited for it because for the past few years I have had the opportunity to shoot a group of friends that get together for photos, this year they are all seniors and they are always fun and I love being able to do this for them. Well, just as we were about to meet a huge storm rolled in, we were up at the red rocks and everyones hair was flying everywhere and I could hardly see because of the dirt, it was crazy so I said, lets go to a grocery store! And guess what! They were all totally game and it turned out to be such an awesome session! We showed up at Lin's and the nice people there let us in and we played a bit, it was a good time! Here are just two shots of the whole group, I am working hard on the rest, girls!

In other news, Mike is on his way up to Sandy for the What a Woman Wants Show this weekend at the South Town Expo Center. He will be there with the PhotoBooth so if you can you should stop by and hop in the booth!! Last week Mike and I had the opportunity to do a session at this new romantic retreat here in town called Eden's Keep. This session was not only for the room itself but also a trash the dress for Jordan & Whitney, our fabulous models! Bloomers gave us some amazing flowers to add the finishing touch on the whole thing and I am super excited at how they turned out!! I have a bunch of news to share, here it is...

First, as some of you know we have had a little studio set up in our home, mostly for newborn photos. Well, we are in the process of taking it all down, if you are interested in a newborn session they can take place in the comfort of your home or I can refer you to another photographer with a studio. It will be great either way, I promise!

Second, prices have gone up this year so check out the site for the new changes. I really wish we didn't have to do this, but alas, we did. Look at the bright side though, your photos will be even more amazing, I promise, again!

Third, once again, I cannot stress enough how important it is to book early if you are interested in a Family Photo Session. Especially for Fall time. We are already scheduling for September thru November and we have a very limited number of days available if you would like something in the Spring time. I know it seems like a long ways away but just start to think about it so you can get what you want!

Fourth, just like last year I have a word for the year and a new band I hope to hear lots of! My word is ELIMINATE. It is such a great word! For a while I kept getting it mixed up with ANNIHILATE, so I wasn't sure it was going to work out, but I got better. (i only annihilated a few things) Things I hope to eliminate this year are...

clutter
pounds
stress
spending
pain
exhaustion
toys

Those are just a few, the great thing about this word is that I have the possibility to gain so much from it, it's win/win! If you don't remember, my word for last year was BALANCE. Over all I think it was exactly what I needed, I learned a lot about myself and realized that it is impossible to have everything in balance. I re-prioritized and started to look at balance a little differently, it was a very good word for last year.

My band for this year is Fleetwood Mac, I have always loved them, they always make me happy, so this year is their year! I'm so excited!

Love is so great! When you are in love everything is happiness as long as you are together. Even the endless pokes of sticker weeds are fun because you are there together to laugh and kiss your way thru it. That was Paul and Tiffany last night, I kept apologizing and they would say "We love this sort of thing!" Love. It's great! And the sticker weeds are totally worth it!

What a crazy day it was last Saturday at the Ultimate Wedding Showcase. We brought the FunnyFace PhotoBooth for everyone to try out and again, it was a huge hit. We met so many excited brides to be. There were tons of other giveaways and special offers by the other vendors there as well.

Here are some photos from the event and a video of the cake dive that took place where 5 soon to be brides put one hand behind there back and dug in to win a FREE wedding ring. We had a great time and we are looking forward to a great new year.

We were also the lucky recipients of the 2009 Honorary Achievement award for local wedding professionals. The award was given by Debbie Peysar owner of the Villa Gardens here in St. George. Fans of the movie A Christmas Story will appreciate this, next year we get to pass it on to the next winners! It is all very fun!!

I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank all of our amazing clients that we have had the pleasure to work with this year. Once again I have been blown away by all the fun people I have had the chance to meet that make what I do so much fun, like I have said before, I can't even call it a job, I just love it too much! We are working hard right now getting things in order for next year and I am excited for the changes we have coming! Next is a post that I posted on my personal blog and I had a few people mention that I should post it here as well, so here it is....

My Mikey grew up eating pumpkin roll, and because I had never even heard of it I had his Mom give me the recipe so I could be a good wife. I am pretty sure that is the best thing I ever could have done for my Mikey. He really, really, REALLY loves pumpkin roll. Whenever we have it in the house he eats it for breakfast, yeah, he loves it that much! That is pretty much the reason that I only make it around Thanksgiving but this year my friend Sarah wanted to come over and make some with me so I had it all planned and as usual life happens, this time of year is always so crazy. So I finally just asked her if she wanted me to make it and bring it to her, there was no way that she was going to turn that down so today I set out to make another big batch of the beloved pumpkin roll. As I was getting ready it occured to me that I could blog the whole thing and then I could share it with the world and Sarah all at them same time!

I searched for my inner Pioneer Woman and went to work. (Here is where I add my disclaimer that in no way do I wish I was the Pioneer Woman, there is no way on earth that I could do one tenth of the things that she does. I am not even a cook at all but I do like to look at her photos of yummy food. So that is all.)

I am thinking that I will go thru the recipe with the many photos that I took and then at the end I'll post the whole recipe together so you can save it if you want to. I have kind of taken it and made it my own, it took me a lot of years to figure it out and then a lot more years to remember what it was I did the year before, I think I have it where I like it now. What I do is double the bread part but not the filling. Amazing, right? And today I made four big pumpkin rolls because I have realized over the years that you can buy friends with pumpkin roll, and I like friends this time of year!

Ok, let's get started! First, I always try and find my recipe, every year I panic a bit and think that I maybe lost it and I will never be able to make it again. Now that I took a photo of it I won't worry so much. So, here it is, in my mother-in-law's pretty handwriting.

Here is a nice little photo of all the things you need for the bread part of the p-roll.

First you throw in the eggs, remember that I doubled this part, normally you just need 3 eggs. For the rest of this post I am just going to pretend that my batch is not doubled, have I throughly confused you yet? Good.

Then you need to beet the eggs for 3 minutes. beat, beat, beat.

Add 1 cup of sugar. Beat some more.

Stir in 2/3 cup pumpkin and 1 tsp lemon juice.
Beat some more and it will look like this...

In another bowl mix 3/4 cup flour, 2 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp nutmeg, and 1 tsp baking powder.

Add that to your pumpkin goodness.

Beat, Beat, Beat.

Mmmmm, so good!

This next part is important, you need to grease and flour a pan, you will thank yourself later if you do a good job at this.

Pour in your pumpkin goodness.

I think this is pretty. Pop that in the oven and bake at 370 degrees for 15-20 minutes. My oven runs hot so I only need 15. Awesome, I know.

While it is baking, you will need to get a dish towel and cover it with powdered sugar yummyness.

This was the point in my day that I realized that I didn't have enough powdered sugar. So I had to go borrow some from Jill. Thanks Jill!!!

Here is what your yummy bread will look like just out of the oven, can you smell it? Ahhhh

Let it sit for 5 minutes and then turn it out onto the powered sugar covered dish towel. I told you you would be happy about flouring the pan really good.

Now you roll. Rollin', Rollin', Rollin'. You will then leave it to cool for 30 minutes.

While your roll is cooling, gather all the stuff for the filling.

You will need to mix 1 cup powdered sugar, 4 TBLS softened margarine, 1 8 0z. package of cream cheese, and 1/2 tsp vanilla.

This stuff is really hard to keep your fingers out of, so, so yummy!!

After 30 minutes, unroll your roll...

and spread the filling over the top. I had a little helper, he had to quit half way through because he was too busy licking his fingers. Niiice.

You are now ready to roll again, without the towel. After that pick it up and place it on cling wrap. Look at how pretty that is!!

Cover it up and stick it in the fridge.

But, don't forget to slice yourself a piece first. This is the best part of the day, make sure you sit down to enjoy it and not just scarf it down while you are standing over the sink. It's better that way, I promise.

Here is the whole recipe if you would like to copy it.

3 eggs 2 tsp. cinnamon

1 cup sugar ½ tsp. salt

2/3 cup pumpkin ½ tsp. nutmeg

1 tsp lemon juice 1 tsp. baking powder

¾ cup flour ½ cup chopped walnuts

Filling

1 cup powered sugar 2 packages of cream cheese

4 TBLS softened margarine ½ tsp. vanilla

Beat 3 eggs for 3 minutes. Add 1 cup sugar. Stir in 2/3 cup pumpkin and 1 tsp. lemon juice. In another bowl mix ¾ cup flour, 2 tsp. cinnamon, ½ tsp. salt, ½ tsp. nutmeg, and 1 tsp. baking powder. Add to first mixture. Pour onto greased and floured cookie sheet. Top with ½ chopped walnuts (optional).

Bake at 375 for 15-20 minutes. Cool for 5 minutes. Turn it out onto a dish towel that has been covered with powered sugar. Start at narrow end and roll up with towel. Let it cool for 30 minutes.

While cake is cooling make filling. Mix 1 cup powered sugar, 2 packages of cream cheese, 4 TBLS softened margarine, ½ tsp. vanilla. Unroll cake. Spread filling and roll up with out towel. Cover with saran wrap and refrigerate. Slice and enjoy but beware! It will make you FAT & HAPPY!!!

Now for my not so favorite of the day. *sigh*

So, I was finally able to do Noah's one year smash cake session and it was so fun! He just could not wait to dive into the cake and when it was all over there was not much to clean up, he did a great job of polishing it off. Here are some of my favorites, since he a December baby we decided to set up shop in the kitchen and use the Christmas tree in the background. I think the light globbies are pretty! His mom really likes the vintage look so that is what all there are. Also, I want to thank Michele for the awesomely cute cake!

We had a box of props in the photo booth with people waiting in a continuous line to get in.

Besides hearing the common "this is the best booth ever" we also heard "Can we fit our whole group of 11 in the photo booth?" and since we are all about having fun, we said "sure"!

This group of 11 was great. Besides this group, so many people laughed like they hadn't laughed that hard in a real long time. It was beautiful to see and hear.

A few weeks ago I had the Barton family here in the studio and since they were waiting for baby number 6 to arrive I took the opportunity to snag a few maternity shots... :)

We finally got in a new backdrop that we have been wanting to try out forever so I thought I would post some of Noah's 9 month photos, he was nice enough to model for us so we could test it out. I seriously love it, I didn't think I would so much, Mike was the one who really really wanted it, but now that I have played a bit and am so glad we have it, it's pretty!

Jack's Alphabet Soup: Now Open!

Jack's Alphabet Soup has been a fun project almost a year in the making. It all started when Jackson and I went out on a date, each with our own camera. I told him we had to find letters out in the world. It was amazing for me to see the world thru his eyes. I never would have found some of the letters he found, that first day we found all but two letters in the alphabet. Since then we have collected many more and now we are offering them to you! Click on the link to the left and it will take you our whole collection. We have at least one photo of each letter, some letters, like O, we have a lot of. This is also an on going project, we will add more as we find them, so check back often, and if you have a special request email us and let us know, we will keep it in mind as we search! Here is something I put together for my brother's family, it makes a perfect christmas gift! The letters come in a luster finish with a choice of 4x6 or 5x7 and are printed on Kodak Professional paper. Once you order it takes about a week to receive them in the mail. So go check it out and enjoy!!

Over the weekend I felt like a true artist, I have been working on two really fun projects called Jack's Alphabet Soup and The Linkydoodle Collection. (get it? I named them after my kids, Jack and Link!) Today I am going to share just a few from the Linkydoodle Collection, I have a bunch of these that I am going to offer as prints, cards, mouse pads and maybe mugs. This is the first time in a looooong time that I have started with a blank sheet of paper and just created, my brain exploded with ideas, it was all kinda crazy. The 8 year old in me had a hayday!! This post is by me, Mike. Last weekend we were at the Salt Palace for the first ever 2008 GEEX (Gaming and Electronics EXpo)in Salt Lake City. This was Disneyland for gamers. And WOW, was it intense! We were there to promote our FunnyFace Photo Booth, I must say it was a huge hit. It was great to meet so many people and see so many people having so much fun in the photo booth. Thanks to the folks below for letting us blog you.

Like so many people Brittney, Randi, Sarah, and Natalie couldn't get enough of the photo booth!

Special Thanks to the Baxter Family for helping us out this weekend.

Emily was very creative with her photo booth session. She told us she was planning on sending her photo booth strips to her boyfriend on a mission in Texas. Great job Emily! Cool idea!

And Deborah couldn't resist getting her picture taken with Han Solo, How Dreamy!

Lincoln and Jackson would live in the photo booth if you let them. Lincoln's favorite prop for the photo booth was the Santa hat and disguise glasses.

This next photo shows the tournament area with big screens for everyone to see. 6 people were made into a team competing against 6 other people on a different team in games like Counter Strike, etc. Alex Vansilli announced the game play by play and was the best game announcer we have ever heard.

Each team of 6 worked together fast to take down the other team. They even had a spotter standing behind them to keep them organized. When someone scored the crowd would go crazy. These guys were intense to watch.

This next photo shows the LAN Party area where teams of up to 16 would compete for prizes.

Guitar Hero 3 was also a big hit. They had free play for anyone who dared to embarrass themselves on the Big Screen and a tournament of different difficulty levels for big prizes. Don't think that the GEEX expo was just for guys only. Check out the score of the girl on the left. You go girl!

I had to post this photo of a 7 yr old playing hard mode in Guitar Hero 3. This kid could put a lot of other guys to shame. His Mom said he plays on expert mode at home all the time.

This was Eric Miller known as the best player in Utah for Guitar Hero 3.

Eric played the hardest song in Guitar Hero 3 standing backwards for the whole song. The picture only tells half the story. When I first saw the "500 note streak" indicator, I knew this guy was serious. My eyes couldn't keep up with the notes on the screen.

Out in the lobby of the Salt Palace were the guys from The Geek Show Podcast. They were interviewing game experts for their podcast.

Overall, my impression of the first ever 2008 GEEX Expo was great. The fun and excitement is already under way for the 2009 GEEX Expo v2. If you missed this one. I'm sure next years show will blow this one away. Be warned though, if you compete you had better come prepared because the people competing this year looked like they had some practice already under their belt. They walked away with some $25,000 in hefty prizes and I'm sure they'll be back next year to claim even bigger prizes.

Celebrating Marriage

While my brother's family was here over the 4th I had the opportunity to go out and do a session with him and his wife Erin. Next March they will celebrate their 10th anniversary! I am so proud of them, in this day and age that is awesome, and the fact that they still are madly in love is even more awesome. Yay for being married!!! And I hope these photos prove that you don't need to be just getting married to have amazing photos of you and your spouse! :)

10 Things You Need To Know About Mikey

Some of you know, and some of you may not know, that I am not the only one running this business. My husband Mike has a desk right next to mine and works hard to make my life easier. He came with me on a shoot the other night and one of our long time clients was surprised to see him, it occurred to me then that I need to introduce him. So on with the show…
1. At our house he cleans all the toilets, kills all the bugs, does all the yard work, fixes everything, locks up the house at night, reads to the kids, checks the mail, picks up the kids from school, keeps the computers up and running, and makes yummy burritos.
2.Mike is 5 years older than me.
3. He is ok with the fact that our boys play with dolls.
4. He has these “doh” moments every once and a while, it is something I have really grown to love about him. Sometimes things just come out of his mouth that make no sense or pretty much make me say “DOH!!” He doesn’t mean any harm he mostly just says the first thing he can think of, like once I was bustling a brides dress and he asked if the reason they call it a bustle is because it makes you look like a bus. I told him he wasn’t going to be allowed to meet any brides if he couldn’t watch it!! :) We also had a great one last night, he said “This is my wife, Deborah, we’re like a team.” I just had to laugh!!
5. He supports my photography habit 100% ( I say habit because I don’t think I could stop even if I wanted to) I know for a fact that I wouldn’t be where I am with out him saying “That’s amazing” or “ I know you can do better”
6. He is pretty handy with a camera, I dare say that he understands the tech side of the camera better than I do. If for some reason I am busy and you need something, just ask if Mike can do it!
7. He is a chips and salsa kind of guy.
8. I realized that I first loved him after he made me a steak for dinner one night and before he brought me my plate he cut up my meat for me. Weird, I know, but I loved it!
9. He loves to ride motorbikes.
10. One of his favorite movies is Grumpy Old Men, this makes me giggle.

I have been itching for a chance to paint and I finally sat down and worked on this photo of my brothers family. I am so in love with the way this turned out!! I have found that I am really drawn to this kind of style, it just makes me happy! So happy that I am going to do a limited time offer! WOO-HOO!! If you have a photo that you wold like painted in this style I will paint it and give you the digital file for $100.00. Just in case you are wondering, this isn't a filter that I just slap over a photo, I work on getting the colors awesome in Photoshop first, then I pull the photo into Corel Painter and I go over the entire image with my cool little pen and digitally paint it for you. This is the second time I have been able to photograph these cute girls, they get together every year and have friendship photos taken. I love this idea and wish I had done this more when I was younger. We shot this session behind the buildings on Main St. and even though we were in the same little area, I was amazed that we could shoot each girl with a different background. Here he is again, Will at 10 months. I have had the great opportunity of having a session with Will once a month since he was 2 months old. I seriously can't believe how fast the months go by and now he is getting so big! I bet the next time I see him he might be a walker! We did this session at the park by my house, I drive by it at least 14 times a day and when I told Holly about it I was thinking it would be fun because it has bright colors (red, yellow, blue) that we could use as the background. Well, we show up and the whole park is green and beige, shows how observant I am! Luckily, it all worked out!!

For some reason this is my very favorite photo I have taken of the two brothers together. LOVE IT!

This was also a great session because I was able to get the most photos of Connor aka big brother, than any other time, he usually let me get about one shot in!
